29/09/2015: 3 bottlenose dolphins and 1 Atlantic grey seal

Three bottlenose dolphins

At the beginning of the survey period, a pair of bottlenose dolphins was seen mingling at the surface near the cardinal marker. Within the next half fifteen minutes they had travelled slightly south and were observed foraging at the surface, with some fish seen. A third individual soon joined them, and the group of three foraged at the surface near the cardinal marker before disappearing 45 minutes into the survey period.

One Atlantic grey seal

From the beginning of the survey, a single Atlantic grey seal pup had been spotted on a nearby beach. The seal pup remained there for the whole of the survey period.

One Atlantic grey seal

The same Atlantic grey seal pup that had been observed on a nearby beach throughout the last survey period remained in the same place throughout the whole of the survey period, before being removed from the beach by the RSPCA.
