29/09/2014: Bottlenose dolphins and Atlantic grey seals

Nine bottlenose dolphins

Halfway through the survey, up to nine bottlenose dolphins were seen close to the harbour and by the fish factory, displaying foraging behaviour, as well as travelling away from the coast.

Five bottlenose dolphins and an Atlantic grey seal

Four of the bottlenose dolphins seen on the previous survey had moved out of range, leaving five dolphins foraging between the harbour and the fish factory. An Atlantic grey seal was seen travelling west, towards the harbour wall.

Four bottlenose dolphins

Two bottlenose dolphins were seen foraging close to the pier and were later joined by another pair who were seen for the majority of the survey.

Eight bottlenose dolphins

Three bottlenose dolphins were seen foraging close to the fish factory, later to be joined by a mother and calf dolphin, and a number of individuals. At the end of the survey, eight bottlenose dolphins were seen travelling west, closer to the fish factory.

One Atlantic grey seal

An Atlantic grey seal was seen at the end of the survey, milling around at the surface.
