29/09/11: Bottlenose dolphins and Atlantic grey seals

2hr survey. Start time 09:00
Weather conditions: Fair/sunny, sea state 1-2, wind SE, SSW, SW, S
Nine bottlenose dolphins and one Atlantic grey seal

The bottlenose dolphins were seen throughout the majority of the survey.  In mainly groups of two or three, they were observed to be foraging and travelling between the cardinal buoy and fish factory. Some leaping behaviour was also observed in the later half of the survey.  An Atlantic grey seal was also sighted north of the harbour wall, in the water, later in the survey.

Four bottlenose dolphins and an Atlantic grey seal

Bottlenose dolphins were observed throughout the whole two hour survey.  These dolphins, including a calf, were mainly seen at the cardinal buoy and at the fish factory foraging and leaping.  An Atlantic grey seal was also sighted northeast of the harbour wall.

Three bottlenose dolphins

Three bottlenose dolphins were observed through most of this survey.  They were mainly seen at the cardinal buoy foraging, but were later observed foraging and travelling near the fish factory.

Three bottlenose dolphins and an Atlantic grey seal

The bottlenose dolphins were seen throughout most of the survey.  They were observed to be travelling and foraging in the area between the cardinal buoy and fish factory.  A female Atlantic grey seal was also observed in the middle of the survey, in the water north of the harbour wall.
