30/09/11: 14 Bottlenose dolphins and five Atlantic grey seals

Six bottlenose dolphins

The first sighting was early on the survey, between the harbour wall and the cardinal buoy. Five bottlenose dolphins were seen foraging. The second sighting occurred at the end of the trip, where one bottlenose dolphin was seen foraging east of the harbour wall.

One bottlenose dolphin, two Atlantic grey seals

The first sighting was early on the trip, when one bottlenose dolphin was seen foraging between the harbour wall and Ina Point. The second sighting occurred mid way through the trip, where an Atlantic grey seal was seen in the water south of Carreg Draenog. The third sighting was also mid way through the trip, where an Atlantic grey seal was seen in the water north of Castell Bach.

Seven bottlenose dolphins, three Atlantic grey seals

The first sighting was early in the trip. Three bottlenose dolphins, including a juvenile, were seen foraging, leaping and tail slapping west of Ina Point. The second sighting occurred early on in the trip, two minutes after the first sighting, when two bottlenose dolphins were seen foraging west of the cardinal buoy. The third sighting was seen mid way through the trip. An Atlantic grey seal was observed in the water at Birds Rock. The fourth sighting was mid way through the first trip, an Atlantic grey seal was seen in the water half a kilometre out from Birds Rock. The fifth sighting was towards the end of the trip. An Atlantic grey seal was seen in the water at Cwm Tydu.
