28/08/2017: Bottlenose dolphins and Atlantic grey seals

One female Atlantic grey seal was seen in the water by the harbour wall at the start of the survey. There were no other marine mammal sightings in this survey, but 3 gannets were seen.

Weather conditions: fair/overcast, sea state 1-2, wind direction SW

No sightings.

Weather conditions: fair/sunny/overcast, sea state 1-2, wind direction SW

One bottlenose dolphin was spotted travelling towards the fish factory towards the end of the survey, and one gannet was seen associating with the dolphin.

Weather conditions: fair, sea state 2, wind direction W

A group of two bottlenose dolphins were seen at the start of the survey travelling across the bay towards the cardinal marker. These dolphins were seen for the first half of the survey, but there were no sightings for the second hour. One gannet was also spotted.

A female Atlantic grey seal was seen by the harbour wall at the start of this survey. Two bottlenose dolphins were then spotted close to the fish factory. These dolphins remained in the same place for the rest of the survey, and at one point were seen chasing fish. Another group of two bottlenose dolphins were also seen in the last hour of the survey foraging by the cardinal marker.
