Two bottlenose dolphins and one Atlantic grey seal

The lone bottlenose dolphin seen in the previous survey period was still present at the beginning of the survey period, still foraging at depth between the harbour wall and the headland. It was joined by a second bottlenose dolphin, seen off the headland also foraging at depth, before both individuals briefly disappeared past the headland. Shortly after, a lone Atlantic grey seal was spotted briefly in the water in front of the harbour wall. The previous two dolphins seen at the beginning of the survey period then reappeared east of the headland, before disappearing from the survey area for the rest of the period.

Three bottlenose dolphins and one Atlantic grey seal

Towards the middle of the survey period, two bottlenose dolphins, a mother and calf, were observed travelling west with regular surfacing between the harbour wall and the headland, before coming to a stop to begin foraging at depth. By the second half of the survey period, the mother and calf had moved to just off the headland, where they continued to forage at depth, and a third bottlenose dolphin was observed splashing around at the surface nearby. All three individuals then quickly disappeared. Towards the end of the survey period, an Atlantic grey seal was briefly observed swimming east past the harbour wall.
