28/05/2016: Nine Bottlenose Dolphins and One Atlantic Grey Seal

Nearing the end of the 7am survey, two groups of bottlenose dolphins were spotted near the fish factory. The first group of one bottlenose dolphin was foraging by the headland, the other group of four were seen travelling towards Dolau Beach at around 8:15am. The dolphins then joined to become one group of five, two of which were juveniles. These were travelling with long dives towards the headland.

Bottlenose dolphins were seen from the beginning of the survey. One bottlenose dolphin was seen travelling towards the headland whilst taking long dives. Two bottlenose dolphins were then seen off the bottom of the harbour wall. These were leaping and milling. Another bottlenose dolphin was seen off the fish factory not long after. This individual was staying taking long dives and thought to be foraging. An atlantic grey seal was then seen in the water nearing the end of the survey, it was travelling from the headland further inshore.
