27/10/2015: Thirty one Bottlenose Dolphins and six Atlantic Grey Seals.

2hr survey. Start time 09:00.
Weather conditions: Dull/overcast with rain at the end, sea state 2, wind direction SE to NE.
One Atlantic Grey seal.

During the first half hour of this survey, a female Grey seal was seen swimming in the water just off the harbour wall. She returned briefly at round 09:45. There were no further sightings from this survey.

Ten Bottlenose Dolphins and one Atlantic Grey seal.

At around 11:15 a group of six dolphins were seen travelling to the east from around the headland. These six were closely followed by another individual. All seven of these dolphins were then seen foraging around the cardinal marker. At around 12:00, a Grey seal was seen swimming east. At around 12:15, the group of seven dolphins re-appeared at the cardinal marker, and another three were seen heading towards them, again from the fish factory. Over the last half hour of the watch, the dolphins started to leave the area, with a group of two remaining at the end of the survey.

Weather conditions: Rain, sea state 1, wind direction SW to SE.
Sixteen Bottlenose Dolphins and three Atlantic Grey seals.

At the start of this survey, a group of seven dolphins was seen swimming into the bay from around the headland. There was also a Grey seal seen in around the same area. Shortly after entering the area, the group of seven split into several smaller groups, and these were shortly joined by another four individuals. During the next section of the watch some of the dolphins seemed to disappear, as there were only eight observed, however there was a male and a female grey seal observed near the harbour wall. at around 13:45, there was another splitting of groups, and also more dolphins entered the area, as there were 16 dolphins seen, in groups of no more than two. Some of these dolphins left briefly at around 14:00, but then returned at around quarter past. Over the last half hour of the survey most of the dolphins left the survey area, leaving six in the area at the end of the survey.

Weather conditions: Overcast, sea state 1, wind direction SE.
Nine Bottlenose Dolphins and two Atlantic Grey seal.

At the start of this survey there was a group of five dolphins, including two young ones, travelling west into the survey area. Soon after, there was another group of four dolphins joining the first five. These were also travelling to the west. In the next section of the survey, some of the dolphins went around the fish factory headland, while most of them stayed visible. A female seal was also seen in this section of the survey. The dolphins joined into one large group of nine. The seal remained in the area, and was seen following a fishing boat. During the second hour of the survey, three of the individuals disappeared, leaving the original group of five, and also another lone individual. Over the last forty five minutes of the survey, the dolphins moved away around the fish factory headland in the last half hour of the survey there were another two female Grey seals seen just in front of the harbour wall.
