27/09/13 – 11 Bottlenose dolphins and 3 Atlantic grey seals

1.5 hour survey, start time: 12:15
Weather conditions: sea state 1-3, visibility 1-10 km, light-moderate swell

In the first ten minutes of the survey, the first sighting was of two bottlenose dolphins by the fish factory which were seen foraging and approached the survey boat. Later, two bottlenose dolphins including one calf were seen in the same area travelling west. Afterwards, one more bottlenose dolphin was seen foraging in the same area. 20 minutes later, an Atlantic grey seal pup was seen on Cwm Tydu beach. Shortly after, a female Atlantic grey seal was seen in the water near Castell Bach, where a pup was seen on the beach. Towards the end of the survey, two bottlenose dolphins including one new born calf were seen foraging near New Quay headland. After, four bottlenose dolphins including one calf were seen foraging while travelling west and leaping in the same area.
