27/07/11: 2 bottlenose dolphins, 7 harbour porpoise and 7 Atlantic grey seals

Two bottlenose dolphins, three harbour porpoises and three Atlantic grey seals

The first sighting was seen just north of the harbour in New Quay and was two bottlenose dolphins seen travelling slowly and resting. Shortly after two harbour porpoises were seen foraging near the same location. Three Atlantic grey seals were also seen around the same time and area. One was hauled out and two were seen swimming. Just before midday, two more harbour porpoises were seen foraging just off Bird’s rock as the last sighting of the trip.

Five harbour porpoise and 1 Atlantic grey seal

Five harbour porpoise were foraging along coastline, four kittiwake were associated with them. One Atlantic grey seal was spotted in the water.

Two Atlantic grey seals

First sighting was seen just north of Ynys Lochtyn and was one Atlantic grey seal in the water. Shortly after one further Atlantic grey seal was seen on the offshore leg of the boat trip, again this was in the water.

Two harbour porpoise – an adult and juvenile - were seen foraging around the corner from New Quay headland.
