26/10/11: Bottlenose dolphins and Atlantic grey seals

Weather conditions: overcast/dull/rain/sunny, sea state 1-2, Wind S-SW
Eight bottlenose dolphins including on calf

Bottlenose dolphins were seen throughout most of the survey, in the area around the cardinal buoy foraging, with long dives. Dolphins were also seen moving in towards the harbour wall before moving off towards the fish factory.

One Atlantic grey seal

A single Atlantic grey seal was seen throughout most of the survey. It was first seen between the harbour wall and the fish factory. It was then seen moving around the wall into the harbour area.

Three bottlenose dolphins including one calf and one Atlantic grey seal

One Atlantic grey seal was seen in the middle of the survey in the water by the harbour wall before moving off towards the fish factory. Three bottlenose dolphins were also seen in the last quarter of the survey beyond the fish factory foraging with long dives.

Weather conditions: Fair/overcast/dull/rain, sea state 2, Wind S-SW
Five bottlenose dolphins including one calf and one Atlantic grey seal

Bottlenose dolphins were seen throughout most of the survey, starting in the area between the fish factory and the harbour wall. They were seen in two groups with one group foraging and the other socialising with leaping and tail slapping. They were then seen moving out towards the cardinal buoy with the same behaviour, before moving out of the area past the fish factory. The Atlantic grey seal was seen in the first quarter of the survey in the water by the harbour wall.
