26/08/11: Bottlenose dolphins and an Atlantic grey seal

Weather conditions: overcast / dull, sea state 1, wind SE
Eight bottlenose dolphins

Bottlenose dolphins were seen throughout the entire survey with four animals seen out near to the cardinal bouy foraging, they then spilt off into two groups of two during the survey. One of these two groups travelled south west toward the harbour wall about half an hour before the end of the survey. Also throughout the survey a mother and calf were seen to be foraging along the harbour wall . Two further dolphins were seen slightly further out near to the fish factory, they too were predicted to be foraging.

At the start of the survey a mother and calf were seen out by the fish factory travelling south back into the harbour toward New Quay harbour wall. Further out near to the cardinal bouy a single dolpin was seen to be foraging. Later in the survey an Atlantic grey seal was spotted in the water just in front of the harbour wall. Finally two bottlenose dolphins were seen just by the fish factory presumably foraging and the mother and calf were resighted out near to the cardinal bouy. They too were thought to be foraging.
