Eight Atlantic grey seals

A total of eight Atlantic grey seals were spotted both in the water and hauled out along the coast between Ynys Lochtyn and Cwmtydu.

15 bottlenose dolphins, two harbour porpoises, three Atlantic grey seals

At the very beginning of the survey three adult bottlenose dolphins were seen around New Quay harbour foraging. An hour into the survey, an Atlantic grey seal was seen in the water near Cwmtydu. Shortly after, a harbour porpoise was seen foraging off Ynys Lochtyn And a further seal was spotted in the same area. Two hours into the survey, a mother and calf were seen leaping and bow riding near Cardigan Island. Following this, a further Atlantic grey seal and harbour porpoise were spotted off shore between Cardigan and Aberporth. In the final hour, a pod of 12 dolphins including a juvenile and a calf were seen near Ynys Lochtyn leaping, tail slapping, bow riding and socialising.
