24/08/2015: 5 bottlenose dolphins, 3 Atlantic grey seals and 1 unidentified cetacean

2hr survey. Start time 11:27
Weather conditions: sea 1-3, visibility >10km, light swell
Five bottlenose dolphins and two Atlantic grey seals

Within the first ten minutes of this survey a group of three juvenile bottlenose dolphins were seen foraging and bow riding. Then half an hour later one female Atlantic grey seal was seen in the water 60 metres from the boat. Another female grey seal was spotted in the water an hour and 15 minutes after the first seal sighting and occurred 50 metres from the boat. Then within five minutes of this sighting two bottlenose dolphins were spotted foraging 200 metres from the boat.

2hr survey. Start time 13:40
Weather conditions: sea state 3-4, visibility >10km, light swell
One Atlantic grey seal and one unidentified cetacean

The first sighting on this trip was seen one hour into the trip and was an adult female Atlantic grey seal which was in the water 50 metres from the boat. Ten minutes later a cetacean (either a bottlenose dolphin or a harbour porpoise) was seen 20 metres from the boat and only emerged once, thus preventing a positive ID.
