24/07/12: Bottlenose dolphins and Atlantic grey seal

Seven bottlenose dolphins

Bottlenose dolphins were seen towards the end of the survey period. Three adults dolphins were seen travelling south-east by the headland. A group of five and a group of two adults were also seen foraging towards the fish factory. One grey seal was also spotted in the water.

Five bottlenose dolphins

At the start of the survey, a group of four bottlenose dolphins were seen, including a mother and a calf, travelling north towards the fish factory. They were later seen foraging by the cardinal buoy. A lone bottlenose dolphin was also seen foraging by the fish factory.

Two bottlenose dolphins

Two bottlenose dolphins, thought to be a mother and a juvenile were seen foraging by the cardinal buoy throughout the second half of the survey.

Four bottlenose dolphins

At the start of the survey, a lone bottlenose dolphin was seen circling fast at the surface, displaying leaps and tail slaps. A group of three adult bottlenose dolphins were seen foraging by the cardinal buoy and towards the end of the survey a mother and calf were seen foraging by the cardinal buoy.

Two lone bottlenose dolphins were seen throughout the survey, one foraging by the fish factory and the other towards the cardinal buoy.
