24/06/2016: bottlenose dolphins, one Atlantic grey seal, and one ocean sunfish
3.5hr survey. Start time 09:48
Weather conditions: sea state 2-4, visibility >10km, light swell
Five bottlenose dolphins and one Atlantic grey seal
An Atlantic grey seal was sighted in the water shortly after beginning the survey. Roughly 45 minutes later, an ocean sunfish was briefly seen floating at the surface of the water close to the boat. Over the next two hours, a pair of Manx shearwaters were spotted flying close to the water, and a fulmar was observed flying low close to the boat. Nearing the end of the survey, back in New Quay harbour, a total of five bottlenose dolphins were seen. A group of four were observed travelling west across the bay, followed by a sighting of a lone individual close to New Quay harbour wall, which turned to briefly bow-ride the boat.
