24/06/2012: 11 bottlenose dolphins, two harbour porpoise and two Atlantic grey seals

Seven bottlenose dolphins

The majority of dolphins were spotted in the vicinity of Ynys Lochtyn. First, two adult dolphins and a juvenile were seen foraging, then shortly after, another two dolphins were spotted foraging just to the west. As the boat started to make its way back towards New Quay, another dolphin began to bow ride. The final sighting was another dolphin which also began to bow ride in the area between the fish factory and harbour wall.

The first sighting was two harbour porpoises travelling east between Cwmtydu and Ynys Lochtyn. Then, three sightings occurred close together between Aberporth and Mwnt – first two dolphins were observed travelling south west, then another dolphin was seen foraging and finally two female Atlantic grey seals were seen in the water. The final sighting was a single bottlenose dolphin travelling south near Aberporth, as the boat made its return leg to New Quay.
