2 hr survey. Start time 07:00.
Weather conditions: Fair, sea state 2, wind direction SW.
Six Bottlenose Dolphins (two calves).

After a short period, this smaller group of two was joined by a group of four, taking the total group size to six, including two calves. The dolphins continued to exhibit a great deal of social behaviour amongst themselves. After about half an hour, the larger group split up into three groups of one, and one group of three. The group of three and two of the single dolphins continued mingling at the surface, while the other single moved over to the fish factory to forage. An hour into the survey, one of the dolphins from near the cardinal buoy moved in towards the harbour wall, and then out towards the headland. Towards the end of the survey, the dolphins started to move out of the survey area, with only a group of three, including a calf, moving past the headland in the last 15 minutes of the survey.
