23/07/14: Bottlenose dolphins, Atlantic grey seals and a sunfish

Seven bottlenose dolphins, one Atlantic grey seal and one sunfish

At the start of the survey six bottlenose dolphins (including one juvenile) were seen by the fish factory. They displayed a variety of behaviours, including leaping, tail slapping, foraging, close contact and socialising. Just past the fish factory a sunfish was also spotted. Between Cwmtydu and Ynys Lochtyn a female Atlantic grey seal was seen in the water. Finally one bottlenose dolphins was seen off New Quay headland, travelling and foraging.

One bottlenose dolphin and three Atlantic grey seals

At the start of the survey one bottlenose dolphin was seen foraging near to Birds Rock. Later on a female Atlantic grey seal was seen past Cwmtydu. A further two female Atlantic grey seals were seen in the water between Cwmtydu and Ynys Lochtyn.
