18 Bottlenose dolphins, 42 Atlantic grey seals and two harbour porpoise

About an hour into the survey eight bottlenose dolphins including one calf and one newborn were spotted approximately 80m from the port side of the boat offshore from Cwmtydu. Whilst travelling the dolphins were leaping and bow-riding. The next sighting came roughly three hours later with two adult porpoise, one travelling south and the other travelling east near Pen-Yr-Afr. Shortly after this we started to spot Atlantic grey seals near Cemaes Head. About 70m from the boat 3 Atlantic grey seals were spotted bottling, two of which were male. On the beach near by a new born Atlantic grey seal was spotted hauled out in amongst 19 adults. In the adjacent water 9 Atlantic grey seals were spotted playing and bottling. Several minutes later four Atlantic grey seals were spotted hauled out on a different beach with one female in the water, two more Atlantic grey seals, one male and one female, were hauled out on separate rocks jutting out. Shortly after this one adult bottlenose dolphin was seen approximately 145m ahead of the boat, it was travelling east. Half an hour later two more bottlenose dolphins were seen 120m from the boat, an adult and a calf that were foraging. At this time there was also an Atlantic grey seal approximately 150m away. Towards the end of the survey two adult bottlenose dolphins were travelling 100m from the boat, and four bottlenose dolphins including one calf were exhibiting a variety of behaviour at Mwnt. This included feeding with fish seen, leaping and tail slapping. After this one bottlenose dolphin and one Atlantic grey seal were seen.
