Five bottlenose dolphins

The survey began with a sighting just off the harbour wall, with three bottlenose dolphins, including one calf, were seen foraging. The next sighting occurred further into the survey, with one bottlenose dolphin seen foraging down the coast from Cwm Tydu. When the boat returned into New Quay harbour a final sighting occurred, with one dolphin seen leaping and foraging just out from the harbour wall.

Three bottlenose dolphins, two Atlantic grey seals

Seconds into the survey one bottlenose dolphin was seen foraging outside the harbour entrance. Another sighting quickly followed with one dolphin foraging outside the harbour. As the boat moved down the coast, two Atlantic grey seals were sighted in the water between Cwm Tydu and Ynys Lochtyn. A final sighting occurred when heading back to New Quay near Cwm Tydu, when a bottlenose dolphin was seen foraging.

Ten bottlenose dolphins, two harbour porpoise, one Atlantic grey seal

The survey began with a sighting of an adult and juvenile bottlenose dolphin foraging just off the fish factory. As the survey moved offshore and down the coast in line with Ynys Lochtyn two harbour porpoise were seen travelling northwest. Staying offshore but a bit further down the coast the survey encountered eight bottlenose dolphins, including two calves, seen leaping, tail slapping and displaying close contact. As the boat returned back to New Quay one Atlantic grey seal was seen inshore in the water by the bird colony rocks.
