25 bottlenose dolphins, 41 Atlantic grey seals, 30 harbour porpoises

Within the first hour of the survey, 21 bottlenose dolphins were seen in three separate groups and including one juvenile and one calf.  Many came very close to the boat, and were seen bow-riding.  They were seen leaping, foraging, throwing fish around and playing with a large barrel jellyfish.  Four more dolphins were seen at around 1 o’clock, foraging, again very close to the boat.  At 2 o’clock, the boat approached a seal pupping beach on which 17 seals were seen in total, including 3 pups hauled out on the beach.  Throughout the survey, 24 more Atlantic grey seals were seen in the water, bottling and swimming.  30 harbour porpoises were seen, generally in small groups or pairs, often only surfacing momentarily, for the duration of the survey.
