21/10/11: Bottlenose dolphins and Atlantic grey seals

Seven bottlenose dolphins including one calf and one Atlantic grey seal

Bottlenose dolphins were seen throughout the survey. In the first quarter of the survey six bottlenose dolphins including one calf were seen between the harbour wall and the fish factory travelling east towards the cardinal buoy. In the second quarter bottlenose dolphins were seen around the cardinal buoy taking long dives, mingling at the surface or leaping and tail slapping. They then were sighted travelling west towards the fish factory. In the second half of the survey they were mostly seen to be travelling again first east towards the cardinal buoy, then west again towards the fish factory. One juvenile Atlantic grey seal was also seen in the water just north of the harbour wall.

One Atlantic grey seal was seen approximately 200m from harbour wall in a north westerly direction.
