21/08/2017: 6 bottlenose dolphins and 7 Atlantic grey seals

Six bottlenose dolphins & one Atlantic grey seal


The first sighting of this survey was two bottlenose dolphins foraging close to the cardinal marker with a gannet circling above them. A group of bottlenose dolphins including one calf was then seen foraging with long dives around New Quay headland. On the return journey a male Atlantic grey seal was seen swimming just off Bird’s Rock.

Six Atlantic grey seals



At the beginning of the survey two female Atlantic Grey Seals were spotted hauled out on to a rock. Later on in the trip there were two more sightings of lone seals, both bottling in the water. The final sighting from the trip was of two female seals hauled out.
