21/07/2013: 24 bottlenose dolphins, 16 Atlantic grey seals

13 bottlenose dolphins, 1 Atlantic grey seal

At the start of the trip two bottlenose dolphins were spotted milling and foraging off the fish factory. After fifteen minutes four more dolphins and one calve were sighted resting, feeding and showing close contact just south of the fish factory by the bird colonies. At the end of the first hour five more bottlenose was seen feeding at Ynys Lochin with two juveniles. Twenty minutes into the second hour an Atlantic grey seal was spotted just south of Cwm Tydu. At the end of the trip a final bottlenose dolphin was seen foraging just off the fish factory.

8 Atlantic grey seals

The first sighting was one hour in just north of Ynys Lochin of an Atlantic grey seal in the water. The next sightings were seen shortly after, with 6 Atlantic grey seals seen in total, all hauled out south of Cwm Tydu. One more Atlantic grey seal was seen hauled out near the end of the trip by the bird colonies south of the fish factory.

3 bottlenose dolphins, 7 Atlantic grey seals

One hour into the survey seven Atlantic grey seals were seen in the water, south of Cwm Tydu. After half an hour three bottlenose dolphins were sighted, two of them adults and one a calve, milling and foraging south of the fish factory.

Within the first half an hour of the survey, four bottlenose dolphins were seen foraging around the fish factory with one calve. One adult and calve displayed close contact. One hour later on the return leg into New Quay, four dolphins were spotted foraging, with a calf and adult displaying close contact around the fish factory.
