21/07/12: twenty five bottlenose dolphins, two harbour porpoises, nine Atlantic grey seals and eighteen jellyfish

Two adult bottlenose dolphins were seen foraging near Cymn Tydu. Two harbour porpoises were seen travelling north around Trwyn Crou. One grey seal and two adult bottlenose dolphins were seen near the New Quay headland.

Overall twelve bottlenose dolphins were spotted near the headland, foraging: an individual dolphin, a group of seven including a calf, and a mother and calf. Two Atlantic grey seals were spotted in the water near the caves west of the headland. Two dolphins were seen foraging off of Ynys Lochtyn. One Atlantic grey seal was hauled out near Cwm Tudu.

Weather conditions: sea state 1, visibility >10, light swell

One bottlenose dolphin was spotted foraging and displaying various behaviours near the Cardinal buoy. Two Atlantic grey seals were sighted near Bird’s Rock: one female was hauled out; the other individual was in the water. One female Atlantic grey seal was seen in the water just past Cwm Tydu. Another two female Atlantic grey seals were seen swimming near Trwyn Crou as well as one bottlenose dolphin foraging and exhibiting varying behaviours. Five bottlenose dolphins including one calf were seen leaping and came in close contact with the boat near Ynys Lochtyn. Two more bottlenose dolphins, including a juvenile were seen foraging near Target Rock.
