21/07/11: Bottlenose dolphins

Weather conditions: overcast/dull, sea state 2, wind NW.
Two bottlenose dolphins were sighted one of which was a young animal

The dolphins were only seen until 09.30 travelling, with long irregular surfacing, in an east bound direction across the harbour. They were also seen foraging at depth west of the cardinal buoy.

Three bottlenose dolphins were sighted throughout the survey, one being a young animal

The first two dolphins were spotted just off the harbour wall, one of which was a juvenile, foraging at depth. These two individuals remained in the survey area, later foraging near the cardinal buoy. A third adult dolphin was also sighted, at 12:30, foraging just off the harbour wall.

Weather Conditions; Fair/Overcast/Sunny, sea state 2, wind NW/N.
Three bottlenose dolphins including one calf.

The dolphins were seen travelling, and carrying out long foraging dives; thought to be foraging at depth. These sightings were seen near the cardinal buoy and the Harbour Wall; often splitting up into two groups.

Weather Conditions: Fair/Overcast, sea state 3, wind NNW/N
Two bottlenose dolphins, including a juvenile.

The two individuals were spotted just off the cardinal buoy, foraging at depths and also staying with various behaviours including fast circling at the surface, leaps and lunges. They remained present throughout the survey, moving away at 16.30.
