15 bottlenose dolphins and 3 Atlantic grey seals

The first sighting of this survey was a group of four bottlenose dolphins around New Quay headland. This group consisted of three adults and one juvenile, and they were seen to be travelling towards New Quay harbour. Another group of dolphins were spotted around the headland, this group consisting of seven adults and one juvenile. They were observed to be foraging, tail slapping and bow riding vessels. Three adult Atlantic grey seals were seen bottling in the water near Bird Rock. A group of three adult bottlenose dolphins were also spotted foraging near the headland as the boat returned to New Quay.

7 bottlenose dolphins and 1 Atlantic grey seal

The first sighting of this survey was a single bottlenose dolphin that was spotted briefly near New Quay headland. The animals’ behaviour was marked as unknown. A larger group of five dolphins was spotted further along the coast from the fish factory, this group consisting of four adults and one juvenile. The group was observed foraging, and had gannets diving and feeding near them. A single Atlantic grey seal was spotted in the water near Bird Rock. A single adult bottlenose dolphin was spotted near the cardinal marker as the boat returned to New Quay.
