20/07/2016: Four Bottlenose Dolphins, Three Atlantic Grey Seals

Two bottlenose dolphins

A group of two bottlenose dolphins was spotted around mid-way through the survey, one foraging by the cardinal hydrophones and the other travelling in a south-easterly direction from the headland. There was also a sighting of a compass jellyfish.

The two individuals from the previous survey remained by the cardinal marker for the majority of the survey and continued to display slow-moving foraging behaviour. In the second half two Atlantic grey seals were also seen in the same vicinity.

Two bottlenose dolphins

A group of two individuals was observed part-way through the survey thought to be foraging at depth; they remained in the same area until the end of the survey.

Two bottlenose dolphins, one Atlantic grey seal

The same two individuals from the previous survey continued to forage in the survey area at the start of the survey. One individual then began travelling in a westerly direction and possibly the same one displayed fast-moving, surface behaviour such as tail slapping and leaping. An Atlantic grey seal was spotted travelling in a north-westerly direction away from the harbour wall, and a compass jelly fish was also seen.
