19/08/2013- 20 bottlenose dolphins

Weather conditions: sea state 2-4, visibility 1-10km/>10km, light/moderate swell
4 bottlenose dolphins

Dolphins were seen immediately as the boat left the harbour area. They were leaping, foraging and tail slapping. Another dolphin was spotted shortly after further around the bay close to Quay West beach; travelling off shore out to sea.

8 bottlenose dolphins

The first dolphin was seen travelling northwest close to the Cardinal Buoy at the end of the reef. Further sightings of dolphins were all within New Quay bay. Many of the dolphins came very close to the boat during the survey.

Some dolphins were seen between the end of the harbour wall and near the Cardinal Buoy thought to be foraging, whereas others were seen further off shore also thought to be foraging in deeper water.
