19/06/12: 13 bottlenose dolphins and 12 Atlantic grey seals

Five bottlenose dolphin and eight Atlantic grey seal

Near the beginning of the survey a female Atlantic grey seal was sighted in the water after New Quay headland.  Three bottlenose dolphins, including one calf, were then sighted foraging off shore between Cwm Tydu and Ynys Lochtyn.  There were then sightings of Atlantic grey seal in the water as we headed back up the coast, as well as an adult bottlenose dolphin with calf, spotted travelling west.

Eight bottlenose dolphin and four Atlantic grey seal

Four bottlenose dolphins were seen offshore near Ynys Lochtyn, foraging and leaping.  The same group of two adults and two juveniles were later observed tail slapping as well.  A male and a female Atlantic grey seal were then seen in the water close to the shore. These were followed by sightings of two female Atlantic grey seal, one in the water close to Cwm Tydu, and one in the water near the bird colonies.
