18/04/11 – 19 Atlantic grey seals and 4 bottlenose dolphins

Weather conditions: sea state: 1-3, >10km, swell light

The first sighting was a young male Atlantic grey seal eating fish at 11:21 just offshore from New Quay head. The second sighting was a female Atlantic grey seal at 12:10 swimming SE offshore from Ynys Lochtyn. The third sighting was a female Atlantic grey seal at 12:13 swimming just offshore from Ynys Lochtyn. The fourth sighting was a female Atlantic grey seal at 12:15 swimming SE along the coast towards Ynys Lochtyn. The fifth sighting was a female Atlantic grey seal swimming at 12.58 just offshore from Castell Bach. The last sighting was a male Atlantic grey seal hauled out on a rock at 12.40 by New Quay head.

Weather conditions: sea state 1-2, >10km, light swell

 The first sighting was two Atlantic grey seals, one adult female and a male juvenile. The female was hauled out on a rock and the juvenile was in the water just off New Quay head. The second sighting was at 14.05, one male Atlantic grey seal in the water just offshore from Ynys Lochtyn. The third sighting was two adult Atlantic grey seals seen at 14.09 in the water to the east side of Ynys Lochtyn. The fourth sighting was at 14.10, three male adult Atlantic grey seals in the water just off the coast of Ynys Lochtyn. The fifth sighting was two grey seals at 14:14, one in the water and one hauled out, just off the coast of Ynys Lochtyn. The sixth sighting was of one adult female Atlantic grey seal at 14:21, in the water just off the coast of Castell Bach. The seventh sighting was an adult female Atlantic grey seal at 14:22, eating in the water just off the coast of Castell Bach. The eighth sighting was an adult female Atlantic grey seal at 14:29, in the water just off the coast of Castell Bach. The ninth sighting was of four bottlenose dolphins at 14:49, foraging offshore of New Quay head.
