17/07/2014 – 20 bottlenose dolphins and one Atlantic grey seal

Thirteen Bottlenose dolphins and one Atlantic grey seal

Twenty minutes into the survey, three bottlenose dolphins were seen foraging, leaping and travelling south around New Quay headland. Half way through the survey, a male Atlantic grey seal was sighted in the water close to Aberporth. Following this, a single adult bottlenose dolphin was seen foraging and feeding on fish. Shortly after, a group of three dolphins were sighted travelling west and foraging again near Aberporth. An hour later, another group of three dolphins were seen leaping near Cwmtydu.

Seven bottlenose dolphins

At the beginning of the study a single bottlenose dolphin was seen by New Quay Headland. Shortly after another dolphin was seen travelling East and a mother and calf were seen foraging. Towards the end of the survey, a group of three bottlenose dolphins were seen travelling east close to Bird’s Rock.
