17/06/14: 32 bottlenose dolphins and 5 Atlantic grey seals

15 bottlenose dolphins and three Atlantic grey seals

Dolphins were seen on the way out of New Quay bay at the beginning of the survey. One dolphin was spotted foraging near bird’s rock, where we later saw two Atlantic grey seals in the water. On the way back from Ynys Lochtyn we spotted two dolphins including one calf at Castell Bach. We then saw another single dolphin and a seal. Five dolphins were seen on the way back into the harbour including some leaping close to the harbour wall.

Ten bottlenose dolphins and two Atlantic grey seals

Bottlenose dolphins were seen at the beginning of the trip near the cardinal buoy. Later a male Atlantic grey seal was spotted offshore from Castell Bach, followed by a female seal hauled out near Cwm Tydu. Bottlenose dolphins were again spotted near New Quay harbour on the way back where they were foraging, leaping and tail-slapping.

Bottlenose dolphins were seen at the beginning and the end of the survey near New Quay harbour, including some foraging and some leaping.
