16/10/2017: Bottlenose dolphins and Atlantic grey seals

2hr survey. Start time 09:00
Weather conditions: overcast/fair, sea state 3, wind direction SE

At the start of this survey a group of 4 bottlenose dolphins, including one calf, was seen foraging near the fish factory. A female Atlantic grey seal was also seen in front of the harbour wall before then disappearing. The group of 4 dolphins were seen leaping near the fish factory before they split up, with a group of 3 dolphins and a calf forging near the harbour wall. The other dolphin was joined by another adult and these foraged offshore. The majority of these dolphins then left the survey area with just two left foraging near the fish factory. In this period two Atlantic grey seals were also seen in front of the harbour wall. The group of 4 dolphins then returned to the survey area and were seen foraging near the fish factory. The two seals remained before one left the area leaving just one. Two dolphins then left the survey area leaving two adults foraging near the fish factory before one of these left, leaving a solitary dolphin. This final dolphin then finally left the survey area also.

Weather conditions: sunny/fair, sea state 1-4, wind direction SE

At the beginning of this survey a female Atlantic grey seal was seen bottling in front of the harbour wall before then being joined by another seal. These then disappeared from the survey area. In the final 15 minutes of this survey another female seal was seen again in front of the harbour wall.

Half an hour into this survey a female Atlantic grey seal was seen bottling in front of the harbour wall before leaving the survey area. Then in the final 15 minutes of the survey another female seal was seen bottling in front of the harbour wall.

At the start of this survey a female Atlantic grey seal was seen swimming E across the front of the harbour wall before it then started bottling. Another seal then turned up in the survey area where it bottled in front of the harbour wall.
