16/09/11: Bottlenose dolphins and Atlantic grey seals

Weather conditions: Fair/overcast, sea state 1-2, wind S/SE
Six bottlenose dolphins including two calves

Two bottlenose dolphins, a mother and calf, were sighted at the start of the survey foraging off the harbour wall. Later on they continued foraging by the Cardinal buoy and another dolphin was seen off the wall. They were then joined by three more dolphins, including another calf, they were travelling east then west off the fish factory and seen leaping.

Ten bottlenose dolphins and one Atlantic grey seal

At the start of the survey an Atlantic Grey seal was seen in the water off the harbour wall. Later a group of five bottlenose dolphins including a calf were sighted off the fish factory mingling at the surface. This group then split up travelling and foraging across the bay. Towards the end of the survey the group increased with two more young calves who were being helped by the adults.

Weather conditions: Sunny/Rain, sea state 1, wind S
Four bottlenose dolphins and one Atlantic grey seal

The bottlenose dolphins were seen throughout the survey as well as an Atlantic Grey seal off the harbour wall. At the start of the survey a mother and calf and another bottlenose dolphin were sighted by the Cardinal Buoy foraging. Later they were joined by another mother and calf who were travelling and foraging west across the bay.

Weather conditions: Fair/Rain, sea state 1-2, wind SW
Three bottlenose dolphins

Three bottlenose dolphins including a calf were sighted foraging off the harbour wall. They were sighted throughout the survey and later moved north out of the bay.
