16/08/2013 – 14 bottlenose dolphins, 1 Atlantic grey seal

The one and only sighting on this trip was an hour and a half in, just off target rock, with one bottlenose dolphin seen foraging and travelling north.

8 bottlenose dolphins

The first sighting took place half an hour into the survey, with three bottlenose dolphins seen travelling east, leaping and wake riding east of the fish factory. This was followed by a single sighting of a dolphin foraging down the coast from the bird colonies. The next sighting was on the return leg of the trip, with one dolphin seen foraging just northwest of target rock. The survey finished with three bottlenose dolphins travelling north and leaping just off the fish factory.

This trip saw one dolphin near the end of the trip travelling south just west from the fish factory.

The first sighting took place at the beginning of the survey just east of the fish factory, with one bottlenose dolphin seen travelling fast south. The next sighting occurred west of the fish factory further down the coast, with one male Atlantic grey seal seen in the water. A final sighting occurred at the end of the survey just north of the harbour wall, with two adult bottlenose dolphins with one calf seen tail slapping and foraging.
