Eight bottlenose dolphins

A total of eight dolphins were seen throughout the survey foraging, mingling and leaping by the fish factory.

One bottlenose dolphins

Half an hour into the survey, a single dolphin was sighted foraging and mingling at the surface directly off the harbour wall.

Two bottlenose dolphins

Not long into the survey, a bottlenose dolphin mother and calf were sighted close to the cardinal buoy travelling east. They continued to travel into the bay to forage and they remained there for most of the survey before heading out towards the cardinal buoy.

Three bottlenose dolphins

A bottlenose dolphin mother and calf were seen foraging close to the harbour wall during the first half of the survey. Shortly after, a single dolphin was sighted foraging around the cardinal buoy.

Four bottlenose dolphins

Dolphins were seen throughout the survey including two adults foraging close to the cardinal buoy. During the second half of the survey, a mother and calf were also seen travelling across the bay towards the fish factory. While the two adults remained by the cardinal buoy, the mother and calf traveled towards New Quay harbour wall and were seen foraging there at the end of the study.

Five bottlenose dolphins

At the very beginning of the survey, a bottlenose dolphin mother and calf were sighted in New Quay harbour travelling towards the cardinal buoy. A further adult dolphin joined the mother and calf and the three dolphins went on to forage by the cardinal buoy. After some time, another mother and calf joined the group then began to travel west.  In the second half of the survey, only a single dolphin was seen foraging close to the cardinal buoy.
