15/09/2015: 2 bottlenose dolphins and 3 Atlantic grey seal

Two bottlenose dolphins and one Atlantic grey seal

Halfway through the survey period an individual male Atlantic grey seal was observed travelling west past the harbour wall before turning and travelling north-west towards the headland. A pair of bottlenose dolphins, one a calf, were also seen foraging at depth north-east of the harbour wall. The pair was observed moving into the harbour to forage where they remained for the rest of the survey period.

At the beginning of the survey period the same male Atlantic grey seal observed in the previous survey period was seen in the water off the headland. The pair of bottlenose dolphins also seen in the previous survey period was observed moving out of the harbour towards the cardinal marker where they continued to forage at depth for the rest of the survey period.

The same pair of bottlenose dolphins present in the previous survey periods were observed continuing to forage at depth for the whole survey period. An individual Atlantic grey seal was observed in the water in front of the harbour wall at the beginning of the survey period.

Two bottlenose dolphins

The pair of bottlenose dolphins present throughout the day were observed foraging at depth by the cardinal marker until late afternoon. They were also observed throwing fish at the surface. The pair was then seen leaping and breaching before leaving the survey area for the rest of the day.

An individual female Atlantic grey seal was observed in water in front of the harbour wall halfway through the survey period.
