15/07/2014 – Bottlenose dolphins, Harbour porpoise and Atlantic Grey Seals

Four Bottlenose dolphins

In a short space of time half way through the survey, two adults and a calf were all seen foraging near to Ynys Lochtyn and another individual near the end of the survey in New Quay harbour.

Six Bottlenose dolphins and one grey seal.

One grey seal was seen in the water to the west of ynys Lochtyn, and two adult and one juvenile bottlenose dolphins foraging and tail slapping the water. At the end of the survey three more bottlenose dolphins were seen travelling NE from New Quay Harbour.

Seven Bottlenose dolphins, one harbour porpoise and three atlantic grey seals.

Two bottlenose dolphins were seen foraging at the beginning of the survey near to New Quay. A single harbour porpoise was seen travelling south near Cwmtydu. Three adult bottlenose dolphins including a calf were seen near Ynys Lochtyn with another two grey seals (one of which was male) in the water shortly afterwards in the return trip. A female grey seal was seen hauled out around the headland from New Quay, with two bottlenose dolphins foraging just out from the fish factory.
