15/06/12: 13 Bottlenose dolphins and Atlantic grey seal

Four Bottlenose Dolphins

Two Bottlenose Dolphins were seen foraging to the east of the harbour and remained there for an hour. 1 female Atlantic Grey Seal was seen in front of the Harbour wall at 07:15, but wasn’t sighted again during the survey. Later in the survey a mother and calf bottlenose dolphin were seen also foraging south east of the cardinal buoy.

One Bottlenose dolphin

One Bottlenose Dolphin was seen foraging around the Cardinal Buoy for 45 minuets during the survey.

Five Bottlenose Dolphins

Two Bottlenose Dolphins were seen travelling east from the fish factory towards the Cardinal buoy where they began foraging and remained for the majority of the survey. In the last 15 minuets of the survey two adult bottlenose dolphins with a calf were seen travelling in front of the harbour wall towards the fish factory and beyond.

Three Bottlenose Dolphins

One Bottlenose Dolphins was seen deep diving and foraging far out beyond the fish factory for the first 30 minuets of the survey. Later two dolphins came in very close to the harbour wall. One eventually came round into the harbour and we lost sight of the second animal. The animal foraged in the harbour for 15 minuets before heading back in front of the harbour wall and was joined again by a second animal. The animals were last seen heading back out to sea towards the fish factory whilst foraging on the move.
