14/10/2015: Four bottlenose dolphins, one harbour porpoise, and three Atlantic grey seals

Two bottlenose dolphins and one harbour porpoise

Near the start of the survey period, a single harbour porpoise was spotted a long way offshore, foraging near a large aggregation of gulls. Around 45 minutes later, an individual bottlenose dolphin was spotted travelling slowly east across the study area, thought to be foraging whilst on the move. Half an hour after this, a second individual was spotted, also travelling slowly east across the area. Both individuals remained in the study area until the end of the period.

One bottlenose dolphin and one Atlantic grey seal

At the beginning of the study period, a single bottlenose dolphin was seen in the vicinity of the cardinal marker, undertaking long dives, and thought to be foraging at depth. The individual remained in the area for 45 minutes before disappearing. At the end of the survey period one adult grey seal was spotted in the water in front of the harbour wall.

At the start of the survey period a single bottlenose dolphin was seen for a short time, foraging near the cardinal marker.

Two Atlantic grey seals

During this survey, two individual female Atlantic grey seals were spotted in front of the harbour wall. The first was seen swimming East across the study area.
