14/10/2014- Bottlenose dolphins and Atlantic grey seals

Weather conditions: overcast/dull, sea state 2-3, wind SW/NE-E
Five bottlenose dolphins and two atlantic grey seals

Within the first half hour a bottlenose dolphin was spotted foraging close to the harbour wall, within a few minutes a second dolphin was spotted a few metres away. These two dolphins together swam offshore. Soon after another dolphin appeared foraging close to the harbour wall, travelling up and down the harbour wall for 20minutes before also swimming north offshore. In the second hour of the survey three dolphins were spotted leaping far offshore. one hour and 30minutes into the survey an Atltanic grey seal popped her head up close to the harbour wall, soon followed by another a few meters away.

One bottlenose dolphin and one Atlantic grey seal

One hour 45minutes into the survey a dolphin was seen foraging near the Cardinal Buoy, at the same time a female Atlantic grey seal was spotted half way between the Cardinal Buoy and end of the harbour wall.

Weather conditions: overcast/dull, sea sate 1-2, wind N-NNE
Five bottlenose dolphins

All sightings were in the last half hour of the survey. a mother and calf were seen foraging near the cardinal buoy, before travelling west. Three bottlenose dolphins were seen in the harbour, splashing and tail slapping.

Weather conditions: overcast/dull, sea state 2-3. Wind NNW-N-NNE
Five bottlenose dolphins

All sightings were within the first hour of the survey. Three dolphins were seen travelling out of the survey area towards the fish factory, this group split with two dolphins travelling east back into the survey area far offshore. Two more bottlenose dolphins were seen foraging at the Cardinal Buoy.
