14/07/2016: 34 bottlenose dolphins, 3 Atlantic grey seals and 10 Jellyfish

Five bottlenose dolphins

There was five bottlenose dolphins spotted individually throughout the survey. They were spotted in various areas along the coast. They displayed behaviour such as foraging, travelling, leaping and feeding on fish.

Weather conditions: sea state 2, visibility >10km, moderate swell
Twelve bottlenose dolphins, Nine jellyfish and one Atlantic grey seal.

There was a total of twelve bottlenose dolphins spotted throughout the survey with one adult dolphin spotted just 3 minutes into the survey. They were spotted in various areas around the coast with a larger group of four dolphins spotted later in the survey including two adults, one juvenile and one calf. They displayed behaviours such as foraging and bow riding along the boat. Then Atlantic grey seal was briefly spotted bottling in the water. There was many jellyfish spotted including four blue fire jellyfish, four compass jellyfish and one common jellyfish.

Nine bottlenose dolphins, one jellyfish and one Atlantic grey seal

There were four bottlenose dolphins spotted after the first few minutes into the survey including three adults and one juvenile. They were spotted in various areas along the coast throughout the survey. They displayed behaviour such as foraging and tail slapping. Then one Atlantic grey seal was briefly spotted at around 13:48 swimming. One jellyfish was spotted and identified as a by-the-wind-sailor jellyfish.

Four bottlenose dolphins

There was a total of four bottlenose dolphins spotted along the coast. They all spotted individually at various times throughout out the survey. They displayed behaviour such as travelling south and foraging.

There was three bottlenose dolphins spotted throughout the survey. There was a dolphin spotted as soon as the survey started. There were a total of three adults and one juvenile spotted throughout the survey. They displayed behaviour such as foraging, milling around in the water and breaching. There was a female Atlantic grey seal spotted in the near the end of the survey displaying behaviour such as swimming in the water.
