14/06/2016: 3 Bottlenose Dolphins & 2 Atlantic Grey Seals

2hr survey. Start time 09:00
Weather conditions: mist (visibility <1km), sea state: 2, wind direction: NW
3 bottlenose dolphins & 1 Atlantic grey seal

Bottlenose dolphins were observed in the bay during the entire survey period. Two dolphins were first sighted near the cardinal marker and were taking long dives beneath the surface, thought to indicate that they were foraging at depth. One male (bull) Atlantic grey seal was also seen near the headland by the fish factory during this time. One of the bottlenose dolphins then travelled out to sea in a North-Eastern direction and meanwhile, the other dolphin joined a third individual that appeared in the bay. These two bottlenose dolphins then travelled towards the headland where they proceeded to take long dives beneath the surface, thought to indicate that they were foraging at depth.
