13/09/2015: three bottlenose dolphins, 11 Atlantic grey seals

Three bottlenose dolphins, five Atlantic grey seals

Towards the beginning of the survey, a lone Atlantic grey seal was spotted in the water near to New Quay headland. Shortly after this, three more seals were spotted in the water, including two females and one male. One of the females hauled out onto a rock while we were observing them. An hour into the survey, a single bottlenose dolphin was spotted 150m to the port side of the boat. Shortly after this, a group of two adult bottlenose dolphins were spotted travelling east. Towards the end of the survey period, a lone Atlantic grey seal was spotted hauled out on a rock.

Six Atlantic grey seals

Throughout the first half of the survey period, lone adult grey seals were spotted, both in the water and hauled out on rocks. Approximately an hour into the survey, a mother and pup were spotted, with the pup suckling.
