13/07/2016: 9 bottlenose dolphins, 1 Atlantic grey seal and 1 Sunfish

1 bottlenose dolphin

One bottlenose dolphin was spotted traveling towards the headland near the end of the survey. There was nothing else spotted for the rest of the survey.

5 bottlenose dolphins

There was five bottlenose dolphins spotted in the last 45 minutes of the survey. They were spotted between the cardinal buoy and headland. They were observed displaying behaviour such as diving at depth thought to be foraging, travelling at irregular intervals, leaping and tail slapping.

3 bottlenose dolphins and 1 Atlantic grey seal

The same bottlenose dolphins from the previous survey remained by the cardinal buoy for the beginning of the survey. There were three bottlenose dolphins including a calf spotted. They were seen diving thought to be foraging at a depth. Later in the survey at around 12:15 there was a female Atlantic grey seal spotted bottling in the water near the harbour wall.

2 bottlenose dolphins and 1 Sunfish

Two bottlenose dolphins were spotted near the headland displaying behaviour such as diving thought to be foraging at a depth. There was rarer sighting of a sunfish yesterday at the beginning of the 2 hours. It was spotted between the cardinal buoy and fish factory.

5 Bottlenose dolphins

There was a total of five bottlenose dolphins spotted around the area. They were spotted between the cardinal buoy and the headland. They were also spotted close to the harbour wall. There was four adults and one calf seen. They displayed behaviour such as travelling and diving thought to be foraging at a depth.

3 bottlenose dolphin

Three bottlenose dolphins including a calf were spotted from the beginning of the survey. They remained in the area for the rest of the survey. They were seen off the tip of the wall displaying behaviour such as diving thought to be foraging at depth. One dolphin left the group travelling towards the cardinal buoy later followed by the mother and calf. They were spotted again at the end of the harbour wall at the end of the survey.
