May 13, 2018
Surveys Conducted:

Survey Observations

Weather conditions: sunny, Sea state: 1-2, Wind direction: SW-NW

More sunny land watches for our #Livingseas volunteers, with bottlenose dolphins (both adults and young) seen throughout the day from 7am – 7pm; with cetaceans were seen almost exclusively in every 15-minute interval. Recorded behaviours include chasing fish at the surface, leaping and breaching out of the water. Observed fish species include mullet and bass. A single female grey seal was also sighted late afternoon and 3 huge bait balls could be seen offshore, playing host to a variety of marine life. As well as on land, members of the public on our Dolphin Survey Boat Trips were treated to fantastic close encounters.
