At the beginning of the survey period two bottlenose dolphins were sighted near to the cardinal marker, they remained taking long dives for 45 minutes close to the marker. One bottlenose was sighted directly in front of the harbour wall taking long dives. After 15 minutes an additional four bottlenose dolphins travelled into the survey area near to the fish factory before splitting into two groups and then leaving the survey area. Three new bottlenose dolphins were then sighted near to the harbour wall taking long dives and then splitting into two groups. An adult and juvenile remained near the harbour wall for the remainder of the survey while the one individual travelled offshore out of the survey area. Near to the end of the survey two new bottlenose dolphins were sighted next to the cardinal marker.

Seven bottlenose dolphins

Bottlenose dolphins were sighted throughout the whole land survey beginning with adult and juvenile taking long dives within the harbour. After an hour two additional individuals entered the survey area separately near the fish factory and the cardinal marker. They remained in the survey area for 45 minutes before an additional bottlenose dolphin travelled from the harbour wall to the fish factory. At the end of the two hour period 2 bottlenose dolphins were sighted long diving near the cardinal marker.

Five bottlenose dolphins

During the first 45 minutes of the survey four groups of dolphins were observed in the survey area. Starting with three separate individuals based at the cardinal marker, near the fish factory and one near the harbour wall. They were taking long dives which indicate foraging behaviour. After 30 minutes an adult and juvenile were sighted taking long dives near to the cardinal marker. The dolphins left the bay swiftly and the remainder of the survey had no sightings.
