11/09/2014 – Bottlenose dolphins and atlantic grey seals

14 bottlenose dolphins and three atlantic grey seals

Immediately at the beginning of the survey two bottlenose dolphins were seen in New Quay bay. Sometime later another individual was seen Travelling NE off the coast from Aberaeron. A little further up the coast two more individuals were seen, and shortly afterwards four more individuals joined them. Another two dolphins were seen a short time afterwards leaping and swimming fast in the same area. On the return trip three atlantic grey seals were seen, an adult female and an adult male both in the water, and a seal pup on the shore nearby.

Six bottlenose dolphins and two atlantic grey seals

Just around the headland of New Quay bay, near to birds rock, an atlantic grey seal pup was seen on the shore, shortly afterwards an adult was seen nearby. A little down the coast from cwmtudu three bottlenose dolphins were seen, and a further three including a juvenile seen off ynys lochtyn headland.

Two bottlenose dolphins and three atlantic grey seals.

Near birds rock a single atlantic grey seal pup was seen on the shore. At adult was seen in the water down the coast from cwmtudu. On the return trip another atlantic grey seal adult was seen hauled out on the shore near birds rock. As the boat returned into New Quay bay, two bottlenose dolphins (a mother and calf) were seen foraging off the headland.
